FERMETURE DE L'INSTITUT

Following government announcements and instructions from our supervisors, Sorbonne University and the CNRS, the building of the Henri Poincaré Institute is closed to the public from October 30 until further notice. We will keep you informed on this page of the continuation of our activities.

Physical reception on campus will not be possible for several weeks, but our activities will continue in other formats in order to ensure the continuity of our missions: the animation of scientific research and its dissemination to the public.

Follow us and chat with us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube throughout this period, and above all take care of yourself and your closes !

Film summary
Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity has revolutionised our understanding of gravitation, space and time. First acclaimed, then forgotten, and now rediscovered, the history of this hundred-year-old theory has marked the history of the 20th century. From its inception, a mathematical difficulty arose that could have nipped the theory in the bud: the Schwarzschild singularity. In the company of great international relativistic physicists, the viewer embarks on a discovery of this theory with a singular destiny. We discover a « curved » universe that proves to be even stranger than Einstein envisioned, and harbours some objects – such as black holes – that still challenge today’s scientists...
